Did
you know that a person with poor posture is 8x more likely to be attacked? |

Our Office Record
On the
balance scale, the largest weight shift to one side was a
record setting 72-LBS in a man who weighed 185-LBS; 40%
asymmetry! He was not aware of any lean, shift or favoring
of one side.
His
primary complaint was knee pain on the side that he shifted
his weight to…his MD had scheduled him for knee surgery.
Within
1-week, we had his weight shift reduced to 11-pounds – his
knee felt a lot betterJ |
Roger Sperry,
the 1981 Nobel Prize winner for brain research is quoted as saying
that,
"Better than 90 percent of the energy output of the brain is used in
relating to the physical body in its gravitational field. The more
mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy available for
thinking, metabolism and healing."
When the spine is
subluxated or misaligned, not only are you using more brain
power to remain upright, but there is a deterioration of the mental
impulses that travel to all parts of the body, which can result in a
lower quality of life and poor health. This can best be described
by what Doctors of Chiropractic refer to as the “Safety
Pin Cycle.”
The better the spinal alignment, the better you function in all
aspects of life and the better your internal energy efficiency is.
We all know the importance of regular brushing and having our teeth
checked for decay, but statistics tell us that not enough of the
population has their spine checked by a Doctor of Chiropractic for
spinal dysfunction (subluxation). Have your children been checked
for interference to their optimum health potential?
What the Research
has to say…
"Posture affects and moderates every physiologic function from
breathing to hormonal production. Spinal pain, headache, mood, blood
pressure, pulse and lung capacity are among the functions most
easily influenced by posture."
--American Journal of Pain Management
1994, 4: 36-39
"The more mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy
available for healing metabolism and thought."
--Roger Sperry Ph.D. (Nobel Prize
1981)
"To Live a long, active, energetic life, few things matter more than
good posture"
--American Journal of Pain Management
1994, 4: 36-39
"Posture and normal physiology and function are interrelated.
Abnormal posture is evident in patients with chronic pain-related
conditions including backache, headache, and stress-related
illnesses."
--American Journal of Pain Management
1994, 4: 36-39
Testing at Our
Office
One of the
first tests that we perform at our office is balance symmetry. In
this test, we simply have the patient stand on a digital scale that
weighs both the right and left sides of them and then compares the
two – a weight shift of 3-pounds or greater to one side demonstrates
postural dysfunction. This weight shift can be due to problems with
the arches of the feet, an anatomically short leg on one side,
scoliosis and upper neck subluxations.
If you, your
family or someone you know would like to be assessed for subluxation
and weight shift asymmetry, call the office to set up a
complimentary assessment.
