For
Valentine's Day
-
If you love her, don't give her
chocolate:-) Of
course, everything in moderation.
A better suggestion would be to give
her a gift certificate for
Massage Therapy - everyone
loves a great massage and you'll
score some sweetie-pie
points, while doing something
healthful for her!

Statin Drugs and
their Side Effects
- Since statins seem to be in vogue
right now, I'm passing along a site
to help educated you to all of the
various dangers associated with
their use. Except for rare
situations, cholesterol is not the
enemy it was once believed to be.
Instead of jumping on the
pharmaceutical band-wagon as a first
resort - a more prudent approach
would be to:
- Eat a clean (read: non-processed, organic, whole food, high fiber) diet.
- Refrain from eating sugary foods (starchy and simple carbohydrates) - insulin has a significant effect on cholesterol, weight around the mid-section and longevity.
- Work with a holistic MD or naturopath to ensure proper liver and gallbladder function.
- Consume adequate levels of fish oil (living in the Pacific Northwest, then use Cod Liver Oil, which contains the much needed Vitamin D), which helps to normalize cholesterol and triglycerides.
- Exercise, exercise, exercise! The power of physical activity can not be ignored. Your quality of life and how well you function at all levels is dependant on your physical activity.
- Chiropractic - research has shown that people actively under chiropractic care have stronger immune systems, enjoy a greater quality of life, have fewer visits to medical doctors and take fewer medications. Chiropractic helps your body work the way it was designed by removing nerve interference and keeping your joints in proper working order so you can do "#5" above without issue.
