I
am writing to all of my friends/patients to
ask your help to defeat a bill in congress
(S. 1955) that would render obsolete all
state-enacted “mandates,” including the
requirement that your insurance plan include
coverage for chiropractic care. Since the
U.S. House of Representatives has already
approved similar legislation, all that is
left for this bill to become law is action
by the full Senate and the signature of the
President.
If this law passes, all of us face a great
threat. Employers will be free to:
§
Eliminate chiropractic benefits
§
Place caps on the number of visits
§
Require a medical doctor referral to
pre-authorize care
§
Place higher deductibles on chiropractic
care
§
Discriminate against chiropractic in any
manner they choose.
You
will lose all of the protections
you now have under our state law
Please take the time to fax, e-mail, write
or call our U.S. Senators. In Washington
State, they are

regular mail can take weeks before
they receive it):

If we lose this vote, there will be
devastating consequences for chiropractic
care. We simply cannot allow that to
happen. Please get involved immediately.

Dear Senator
The U.S. Senate is considering
S.1955, the Health Insurance
Marketplace Modernization and
Affordability Act. If this
legislation becomes law,
chiropractic patients will have
limited, if any, access to care.
Please do not vote to end
debate on this bill
Please coordinate a possible
filibuster with Senator Kennedy
Chiropractic care is important
to me and my family. If this
bill is passed, the protections
I am guaranteed under our state
law will be lost. These
protections are important
because there has been a long
history of discrimination
against the chiropractic
profession. We need to be sure
that insurers treat the
chiropractic profession in the
same way they treat the medical
profession.
This bill will hurt millions of
chiropractic patients across the
country
Chiropractors have historically
been discriminated against by
the medical profession and the
insurance industry. This is true
despite study after study
confirming the cost
effectiveness of chiropractic
care.
Senator, this is a bill that
affects me personally. I
respectfully request that you
contact me to let me know your
position on this important
legislation. Thank you very much
for taking the time to consider
my concerns.
Sincerely,
