A Case Study from our Office

(Click the Image for a larger view)

Here are before and after (pre/post) x-rays of a 46-year-old female patient with scoliosis.  The changes noted are from 5-months of specific chiropractic care.

The first x-ray (on the left) shows the effects of a spine in a bad state of Health.  Note the distance the spine has traveled from the center of gravity and note the amount of bend/twist.  This, left uncorrected will surely lead to advanced degeneration of the spinal joints and will definitely lead to further twisting over time.

The picture on the right shows what 5-months of specific chiropractic care can do!  By correcting the spinal dysfunction, this patient is taller, has less muscular spasm, feels better and is overall healthier.  Research over the last 85-years proves that twisted spines wear-out faster, create pain more often and can lead to spinal nerve compression.

What makes more sense...Wait until you need surgery and live a life of chronic pain, or correct it before it ruins your life?

This is just one of the many "miracles" that occur on a very regular basis in chiropractic clinics all over the world!  Have you had your families spines checked by a specific chiropractor lately?

Air Force Physician Becomes First Military Physician to Face Court Martial For Refusing to Take Anthrax Shots
Captain John Buck, an emergency-room physician at Keesler Air Force Base, Miss., faces the military equivalent of a grand jury hearing within hours now -- a hearing that will, for better or worse, permanently mark the rest of his life and career.

Coffee Consumption and Miscarriage in Pregnant Women
In an article appearing in the San Francisco Chronicle, a study involving researchers in the United States and Sweden concluded that five cups of coffee per day more than doubled a pregnant women's risk of miscarriage.

The study focused on the early stages of pregnancy and found 1-3 cups yielding a 30% increase in likelihood of miscarriage, 3-5, a 40% increase and more than five cups yielding more than a 50% increase in likelihood.

The study surmised that tea, cocoa and soft drinks could have the same effect except that the amount of caffeine in each of these products varies. If the total caffeine intake is

the same, the result is the same regardless of the vector delivering the caffeine.

State Votes "NO" on Mandatory Vaccine Issue

The Illinois State Board of Health voted to defeat the chickenpox vaccine mandate. However the board plans to reconsider the 4-3 vote at its March meeting.

If forced-shot opposition holds, Dr. John Lumpkin, director of the Illinois Department of Public Health, could override his advisory board.

There have been 9,000 reports of adverse reactions to chickenpox vaccine filed with the federal government since 1995. The Food and Drug Administration includes them in its latest data of 112,699 total vaccine adverse reaction reports, 15 percent including permanent disability and death. The vaccine manufacturer has yet to produce long-term safety studies on the vaccine or its ingredients: aborted fetal tissue cells, fetal bovine serum and monosodium glutamate.

For vaccine-associated injuries and deaths, the federal government paid out more than $1 billion, which is financed by taxes on each vaccine dose. As of August 2000, Illinois had 231 compensation claims including 45 deaths and 186 injuries. Vaccine manufacturers, doctors, nurses and pharmacists remain exempt from liability for injuries and deaths that follow vaccinations.

"Bacteria More Resistant to Antibiotics"
In a news flash that isn’t so much news, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on December 28, 2000 (page A9) that "one of nature's most common and dangerous disease causing bacteria is developing antibiotic resistant strains at an increasing rate."

The article was in response to a December 28, 2000 article in the New England Journal of Medicine that reported in the period from 1995 to 1998 the rate of multi-drug resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae had increased from 9% to 14%.

From 1995 through 1998, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) collected 12,045 samples of S. pneumoniae from a population of 16.5 million throughout the country. The rate of resistance to penicillin rose from 21% to 25% and multi-drug resistance, that is, to three or more antibiotics rose from 9% to 14%.

The resistance was found to be higher among white children and adults than among adults in general and blacks. The increase in resistance was thought to be a direct consequence of increased access to antibiotics among the white population. "The chief culprit in microbial resistance is overuse of antibiotics" with 25,000 tons being consumed in the US annually--half by humans and half by livestock and the agriculture industry. The authors went on to assert that about half of such use is in appropriate.

It is nice to be a chiropractor and know that not one order for any of the 25,000 tons of antibiotics has come from our ranks.

Figures Show 324 Reactions to Vaccine
Figures from the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) on adverse reactions indicate the meningitis C vaccine has caused 324 reactions in 143 children in Ireland. The meningitis C vaccine was introduced at the beginning of October, with some 350,000 doses administered by mid December.

Aerobic Fitness Shown to Slow Artery Disease
Finnish researchers found that the fittest men showed the slowest progression in carotid atherosclerosis, a build-up of fatty plaque in neck arteries that can increase the risk of stroke. People with build-up of plaque in neck arteries may also have a similar problem with heart arteries--a risk factor for heart attack.
